Professional Membership Policies

When you register for an ALACE training program, the Labor Assistant program or the Childbirth Educator program, your tuition includes the training and certification process and your first year of professional membership with ALACE.

While there is no deadline to complete the certification requirements of either of the ALACE training programs, you must keep your ALACE membership current and active in order for your work to be evaluated and processed.

Even after you have completed your certification as an ALACE birth professional, there are many benefits to maintaining your ALACE professional membership. These benefits include:

• A year’s subscription to ALACE’s quarterly journal, “Special Delivery”/special
• A professional listing on the ALACE website
• Referrals to consumers in your area
• The support of the ALACE staff as you work through your training and in your work as a birth professional
• Membership in our online study and peer support groups for doulas and childbirth educators
• Access to the Members Only portion of the ALACE website where you can renew your membership, order books and other products online, update your referral information, have access to professional resources, member message boards, and more
• 10% discount on all book orders totaling at least $40

Annual membership in ALACE is $50 and is renewable each year.
